No experience necessary.
What’s Involved?
Spring (Feb–March)
- Judge bulb-growing projects (daffodils, hyacinths)
- Schools grow from autumn
- Visits after February half-term
Summer (June–July)
- Judge flowers, vegetables, and herbs
- Seeds planted earlier in the year
- Visits mid-June to mid-July
What You’ll Do
- Visit allocated local schools
- Meet staff and pupils
- View displays or school gardens
- Award Gold, Silver, or Bronze certificates
- Take photos to support judging
- Complete a simple judging card
Most visits take place during the school day.
What You’ll Receive
- A judging pack (certificates, stickers, judging cards)
- A judging badge
- Full guidance and support from LCFS
How to Apply
To become a volunteer judge, please:
- Complete our application form below
- Provide a character reference
- Confirm you’ve read our safeguarding policy
- Confirm you’ve read the health and safety policy
- Complete a safeguarding declaration
