Mr Anthony Vernon Comben
Chairman and Trustee London Children’s Flower Society
On December 31st 2019, Tony Comben passed away peacefully in his sleep aged 77 at Queen’s Hospital, Romford. He leaves behind his wife Janet, his two children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Tony was born on 13th October 1942, he was educated at Highbury County Grammar School and London School of Economics graduating with a degree in Social Psychology. He had a successful career in the Metropolitan Police and subsequently the Ministry of Defence, where he reached the rank of Chief Officer. He later trained as a teacher in Maths and English and taught in both the public and private sectors.
Tony Comben joined the Council of the London Children’s Flower Society in 1986 and became Chairman and Trustee in 2004.
Tony was a keen gardener and enjoyed being a volunteer judge for the Society.
He will be sadly missed.
His funeral took place on Wednesday 22nd January 2020, at Upminster Crematorium, his family have asked for donations to the Stroke Unit at Queen’s Hospital, Romford.
